How it started
Following our relief work after the devastating earthquakes in 2018, we had the opportunity to open a safe space for the children of Klui with the main focus on trauma healing.
The village had a small building that was originally built for community meetings which was no longer in use.
Together with Patock Pathurrahman, a leader amongst his peers, we decided that this could be an opportunity to establish a learning centre.
Patock and his wife Ony are passionate about teaching. Their dream was to one day have a small school where they could share their knowledge with their community.
The idea was discussed, presented to the village elders, and approved to go ahead. Once a decision was made things happened quite quickly and before we knew it, Patock and his friends were transforming the building into the “Klui Village Learning Centre”.
To mark the opening of the Learning Centre, we held an opening ceremony which included games, food, speeches and tons of fun. There was a great turnout, with many members of Klui Village in attendance, as well as management from the adjacent resort Jeeva Klui. It was a great distraction from the devastating and traumatic earthquakes that had occurred in the weeks prior.

How it's going
Since 2018, our school has provided 52 kids from Klui village with free education. Our number of students is continuing to grow every year. Currently, we have 24 children, aged 3 to 6, in our class. Without the learning centere, many of these kids would have missed out on essential kindergarten-level education.
We can now observe the positive impact that education has had on those who have graduated from our school, fostering a cycle of support and inspiration.
We aim to ensure that the kids of Klui have access to quality early education, completely free of charge.
Through our dedicated fundraising efforts and generous donations, we strive to make a lasting impact on the lives of the children in the village.
Join us in our journey to empower the next generation with the education they deserve!
